To prevent spam, TikTok has specific messaging limits and delivery rules. These rules apply to TikTok only.
Direct messages
When a contact sends you a direct message:
- You can send up to 10 messages within a 48-hour window
- The 48-hour window resets each time the contact replies
- Once the window closes, no messages can be sent until the contact messages you again
Comments
When a contact leaves a comment on your TikTok content:
- You cannot send a direct message to them based on the comment alone
- No messaging window opens from public comments
- The contact must send you a direct message first to enable any business communication
In other words, you can only message contacts who have messaged you in the last 48 hours.
Voice messages
If a contact sends a voice message:
- Voice messages are not supported inside Chats tab
- Fuely AI can not reply to voice messages
Known issues
Messages not being delivered
TikTok might flag your account for spam. This means:
- Your messages will go to Message Requests instead of the main inbox
- Messages won't be delivered via API until the contact manually accepts the chat
- Contacts won't see your messages until they check their Message Requests folder
