Messaging rules for TikTok

To prevent spam, TikTok has specific messaging limits and delivery rules. These rules apply to TikTok only.

Direct messages

When a contact sends you a direct message:
  • You can send up to 10 messages within a 48-hour window
  • The 48-hour window resets each time the contact replies
  • Once the window closes, no messages can be sent until the contact messages you again

Comments

When a contact leaves a comment on your TikTok content:
  • You cannot send a direct message to them based on the comment alone
  • No messaging window opens from public comments
  • The contact must send you a direct message first to enable any business communication
In other words, you can only message contacts who have messaged you in the last 48 hours.

Voice messages

If a contact sends a voice message:
  • Voice messages are not supported inside Chats tab
  • Fuely AI can not reply to voice messages

Known issues

Messages not being delivered

TikTok might flag your account for spam. This means:
  • Your messages will go to Message Requests instead of the main inbox
  • Messages won't be delivered via API until the contact manually accepts the chat
  • Contacts won't see your messages until they check their Message Requests folder
